Tis the Season to Write a Book blog series continues as we countdown our way to Christmas. If you want money coming into your bank account on a regular basis then this blog post is for you. And I'm not just going to say if you want to make a consistent income you have to show up consistently. Today is day 20 of 24 here is a strategy I have used to make consistent income as an author, let's dive right in.
In 2020 from October through December something amazing happened. I started receiving consistent royalty direct deposits from book sales I had made on Amazon.
It was surprising to me because at that time I was on a writing Sabbatical and not actively promoting my books.
After research, I discovered that blogs I had written in 2019 were being discovered with 80% coming from Google directly to my website.
That's right, work that I had done a year prior had created passive income for me.
Guess what I had on the blog? A link to purchase my book, at that time it was a book about Self-care.
The strategy I am going to share with you I have put into more practice in 2021. This time with a different book and blog topic and guess what? Consistent royalties and direct book sell from my website. So here's how I did it.
I blogged consistently in 2019 at least one blog post a week for almost the entire year. Sometimes I blogged two or three times but it's more important to get out a quality post than quantity.
Not all blogs are created equal but if you do this strategy for the long haul it can yield great results. This is the power of blogging and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
First research topics to go with your book that people are actively searching for on Google. If you have not already written a book then use SEO to decide on a topic people are already interested in.
Create a blog post with SEO keywords within the post. Make sure that your blog includes a link to purchase your book and a free resource to join your email list.
You will need to commit to blogging consistently to get picked up by Google. But the long-term benefits are worth the effort you put in today.
After blogging consistently for 100 days you want to evaluate. Which blog post did the best? The blogs that take off, meaning get a lot of views, comments, and people clicked on the link to buy your book.
After analyzing the data you want to expand on these popular blog posts.
Make sure to share your popular blogs multiple times throughout the year on different platforms and to your email list.
Find ways to repurpose the blog content, turn it into a YouTube video, do a LIVE video, turn it into a podcast or other content and share it periodically to drive people back to the income-producing blog.
If you have it in your budget you can also drive traffic to your most popular blogs by hiring a VA to help post your blog to groups at least 10 a day, also invest in running ads. Before spending money on ads make sure the blog post is making you money.
